Small wip by MKmiec
Small wip
Hello! I've some small work in progress piece here that I wanted to share.

I'm still struggling to manage my time between work and painting, it's hard but remember that great things take time :3

Sweet Chill by MKmiec
Sweet Chill
Small experiment with style. I'm focusing on finding the best way to paint my characters without loosing dynamism and coolness of the sketch. Something that I've learnt with this one is to take it slowly, slep by step, and think about each step without doing mindless brush strokes here and there hoping that it will somehow work. I still want to stop spending so much time on unimportaint details. But well, everything comes with experience!

Small painting I did recently. I wanted to practice working with referencesm which is extremely important (don't be scared of them). I need to focus on improving my style cause currently I feel like I'm a bit lost. I know what I like but I have to find the way to transfer it on my paintings :)

Portrait study by MKmiec
Portrait study
I'm going through a bit frustrating perion regarding my art. I see how much I still have to learn and how little time there is. As I mentioned I decided to slow down with making fully polished illustrations and focuse more on doing studies and improving in my basics. I really need to improve my lighting and values, I need to start seeing things in 3d and plan how the light will effect them.

Tip from beginner to beginners: if your piece looks flat there is probably problem with your lights and shadows. Light is what shows us shape and dimension, spend time to understand how it works, it will bring your work to another level!

Piece above is of course a photo study, not my orignal work. I chose it mainly because of lighting. With this kind of extreme lighting situation is easy to notice different body folds and shapes and how light is dancing around them. I recommend to do few this kind of studies. You can find original photo here

Showing off by MKmiec

Finally a piece, that I was working on recently, is done. It's not easy to continue to paint a lot while having full time job, but I'm slowly trying to find out the best way to manage my time, so I can still practice as much as it possible. I have to focus more on learning tho, come back to some art books, go through online workshops. I start to discover what I want to do in the future, regarding art of course, and I want to focus on this areas mostly.

Recently I've listened to an interesting book review. Book is called ''Mastery'' by George Leonard. You can find the review here . In the review there are few interesting points about learning process in art, I reccomend you to check this out 'cause review itself is already pretty motivational. I've ordered the book, waiting impatiently to dig into it Meow :3

It's a bit late, but Happy Birthday! I think I missed seeing some of your newest art but it's so cool; the rendering is really realistic now! Anyway, hope you're doing well and still finding time to paint :]

Hah yes, I have the same problem :) I think, like you said, the thing to do is just to make the most out of the spare time you have. I've actually gone back to drawing quite a bit now, just because it's so quick and easy to get a pen and paper and think out some ideas for paintings I can do when I have more time.

Yeah, sketchbook and pen are the best friends when you don't have time. But I'm still fighting with my urge to make finished illustrations, or even urge to learn, but digialy (I need to do tons of texture studies, photo studies an so on) and I feel like traditional sketching won't fulfil this urge (does it make sense?). Anyways, I'm trying to manage my time (I even started to get up one hours earlier before work to paint a bit, even tho it's not always possible for me to get up that earlx ;P ) and I definitely won'T give up 'cause I love it waaaay to much ^^

Hello, unfortunately not in the near future. I still have around three dolls to finish and they will appear eventually, but at the moment I´m focus on my art career. I´m sorry if that disappoints you :( I think the beginning of next year will be time that I will come back to making dolls.
